Your nbn™ Connection Box.

1. The location of your nbn™ connection box, which should be: 

  • Near an accessible power point.

  • In a cool, dry, ventilated area.

  • Away from busy areas where it may be knocked and damaged.

  • Away from bedrooms, as the connected modem can flash brightly and disturb sleep.

  • Near your existing landline phone or network cabling.

 

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

  1. Installation approval,

    • I have my landlord’s approval for installation (if needed) and am approved for installation at my heritage-listed premises (if applicable).

  2. Connection date,

    • Dodo has informed me of my connection date and I understand that I (or an authorised representative over 18) need to be there for the appointment, which may take up to 4 hours.

  3. Equipment location,

    • I have considered locations for my nbn™ supplied equipment.

  4. Safety-critical equipment,

    • I understand that important equipment connected over the nbn™ Fixed Wireless network won’t work during a power blackout and have registered this equipment online at nbn.com.au/compatibility

  5. Activation time,

    • I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection during this time.

    • I understand that each installation appointment may take over 5 hours.

Your nbn™ Connection Box.

1. Your nbn™ Connection Box is to be located inside your home based on these requirements:

  • In the same building as the main electric meter box or distribution board (i.e. not in a separate detached garage or outhouse).

  • Somewhere easy for you to see and to check the indicator lights.

  • Away from busy areas where it may be knocked or damaged.

  • A cool, dry, ventilated area (nbn™ supplied equipment cannot be installed in a damp or wet area, such as a kitchen, bathroom, laundry or under a window that opens).

  • Reasonably close to a power point.

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

  1. Activation time- I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection during this time.

  2. I have checked with my device provider and my phone or internet provider that any devices I rely on will work on the new nbn™ network-based service.

  3. I’ve arranged for myself (or an authorised representative over 18) to be there for the whole appointment.

  4. I have my landlord’s consent for the installation (if required).

  5. I understand that a normal installation appointment might take up to four hours.

  6. I’ve considered where I would like my nbn™ equipment to be positioned in my premises.

Quick Installation Guide

1. Your nbn™ Modem.

  • The modem will connect to just one of your existing telephone wall sockets, and your phone into the back of the modem, make sure this is in a position that makes it easy for you

  • Your new modem will connect to your existing telephone wall socket, so you’ll need to find a place close to the telephone outlet

  • To prepare for your service over the new nbn™ network being switched on in your area, simply set up your nbn™ compatible modem using the instructions given by Dodo

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

Connection date,

  1. I have been informed of my connection date and have confirmed with Dodo whether I need to be home for the appointment.

  2. Modem,

    • I have received a new modem from Dodo or have checked that my modem is a GoHub 1 or 2.

  3. Equipment check,

    • I have checked with my device and service providers that any devices I rely on, such as medical and security alarms, will work over the nbn™ network.

    • I understand that my current socket will no longer support my telephony service once the migration to nbn™ is complete and that I will be using the telephony service via the router once I have confirmation from Dodo of the activation.

  4. Activation time,

    • I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection during this time.

1. Your nbn™ Modem:

  • The modem will connect to just one of your existing telephone wall sockets, and your phone into the back of the modem, make sure this is in a position that makes it easy for you.

  • Your new modem will connect to your existing telephone wall socket, so you’ll need to find a place close to the telephone outlet.

  • To prepare for your service over the new nbn™ network being switched on in your area, simply set up your nbn™ compatible modem using the instructions Dodo.

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

Connection date,

  1. I have been informed of my connection date and have confirmed with Dodo whether I need to be home for the appointment.

  2. Modem,

    • I have received a new modem from Dodo or have checked that my modem is a GoHub 1 or 2.

  3. Equipment check,

    • I have checked with my device and service providers that any devices I rely on, such as medical and security alarms, will work over the nbn™ network.

    • I understand that my current socket will no longer support my telephony service once the migration to nbn™ is complete and that I will be using the telephony service via the router once I have confirmation from Dodo of the activation.

  4. Building Manager,

    • I have checked with my Building Manager that they will be available to allow the nbn™ approved technician access to the communications room, and if any special requirements exist for my building.

  5. Activation time,

    • I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection during this time.

Your nbn™ Connection Box.

1. Your nbn™ Connection Box is to be located inside your home based on these requirements:

  • If you are not satisfied with where or how your box is being installed, please call us before signing off the work.

  • Your nbn™ connection box should only be installed in a location that you are comfortable with. If your preferred location is unsuitable, your nbn™ approved installer will explain this to you, and help you choose an alternative.

  • If you don’t have an existing wall outlet, you should consult your nbn™ approved installer and use the checklist on the right when considering the best location for your nbn™ supplied equipment.

  • Your nbn™ connection box will be located close to your existing wall outlet inside your premises, as well as a power point. If you have more than one wall outlet, ask your nbn™ approved installer which one is suitable for connecting your nbn™ connection box.

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

  1. Device check,

    • I have checked with my device provider and my service provider that any devices I rely on, such as medical alarms, EFTPOS and fax machines, will work on the new nbn™ network.

  2. Authorisation,

    • I’ve arranged for myself (or an authorised representative over 18) to be there for the whole installation.

  3. Consent,

    • I have my landlord’s consent for the installation (if required).

  4. Duration,

    • I understand that a standard installation might take up to eight hours.

  5. Activation time,

    • I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection during this time.

  6. Safety,

    • I’ve considered the safety issues as to where my nbn™ supplied equipment will be located on my premises.

  7. Registration,

    • I have registered my medical and fire alarms with nbn.

Your nbn™ Connection Box.

1. Your nbn™ Connection Box is to be located inside your home based on these requirements:

  • If you are not satisfied with where or how your box is being installed, please call us before signing off the work.

  • Your nbn™ connection box should only be installed in a location similar to your old ADSL equipment, if you did not have a ADSL service - the nbn™ connection box will be connected to a telephone outlet.

  • Your nbn™ connection box will be located close to your existing wall outlet inside your premises, as well as a power point. If you have more than one wall outlet, ask your nbn™ approved installer which one is suitable for connecting your nbn™ connection box.

2. Your Checklist for Connection:

  1. Device check,

    • I have checked with my device provider and my service provider that any devices I rely on, such as medical alarms, EFTPOS and fax machines, will work on the new nbn™ network.

  2. Authorisation,

    • If a technician is required for installation, myself or an authorised representative (over 18) will be present for the whole installation. We will inform you via email & SMS if a technician is required.

  3. Consent,

    • I have my landlord’s consent for the installation (if required).

  4. Duration,

    • I understand that a standard installation might take up to 4 hours.

  5. Activation time,

    • I understand that it may take up to 24 hours to activate my service following set-up. Also that there may be an interruption to my internet connection & phone line during this time.

  6. Safety,

    • I’ve considered the safety issues as to where my nbn™ supplied equipment will be located on my premises.

  7. Registration,

    • I have registered my medical and fire alarms with nbn™.

  8. Mobile phone,

    • I have a charged mobile phone handy in case of an emergency.
